Northern heritage
Contrary to popular belief, Northern Québec, which covers more than 55% of Québec's territory, is ecologically rich and has fabulous landscapes. In fact, this fragile region is home to a large number of animal and plant species.
Biodiversity Observation Network
In order to raise awareness among all land users and visitors of the importance of the region's ecological, cultural, and historical heritage, the FaunENord organization has produced an information kit containing descriptive sheets for sixteen natural sites, including a table of distances and a list of local tourist events: Chapais, Chibougamau, Chisasibi, Eastmain, Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Matagami, Mistissini, Nemaska, Oujé-Bougoumou, Radisson, Valcanton, Villebois, Waskaganish, Waswanipi, Wemindji, and Whapmagoostui. Interpretive panels have been installed at the entrances of the sites, and visitors have access to a network of hiking trails or exceptional viewpoints.
